Basilia J. Hernandez, 67, went to be with the Lord on February 16, 2024. She was born and raised in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico. She lived in Houston, Texas prior to moving to Brownsville in 1990. She was an active member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She worked at Texas Pack Inc., and in housekeeping at UTB/TSC and Bahia Mar in South Padre Island, Texas. For the last 15 years, she was a home health provider for Caring for You. She was an active participant of various community outreach organizations. She was the best friend and confidant for everyone she knew, there was always a joke for every lesson, she inspired love, forgiveness, compassion, and service above all. she will be missed dearly.
She is preceded in death by her father, Nicolas Jimenez Guzman, her brother, Fidencio Lara Jimenez, and her son, Jaime Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Jaime Hernandez Acosta; her mother, Basilia Lara Jimenez; her children, Esmeralda, and Jessica S.; daughter in law, Perla Hernandez; son in law, Brent Stubblefield; her siblings, Sara Jimenez, Rosa Maria Lopez, Irene Resendez, Nicolas Jimenez, and Gilberto Jimenez; her grandchildren, Ruby, Jaime Angel, Kevin, Levi Weston, Alessandra, Lyla Rose, Zoey Isabella, and Luke Walton, and many nieces and nephews who she loved and cared for as her own.
Visitation will be held on Thursday February 22, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Delta Funeral Directors. A funeral mass will be held on Friday February 23, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Good Shephard Catholic Church. Followed by interment at Buena Vista Cemetery.
